Jeff was contacted by a group of supporters of OSU's Women’s Athletics to create a funding source for their program. Dr. Sylvia Moore, Patty Drapella and Dr. Burton Woods convinced Auto Cars that due to the lack of funding that OSU officials would be willing to host an annual car show with the proceeds going to women’s athletics. The four of them formed a committee and started planning for the First OSU Concours D'Elegence to be held August 15, 1982. With Jeff's vast network of contacts the committee started lining up judges, class sponsors, financial donors and a vast number of car owners and enthusiast’s for the show. Than plan was to model it after the prestigious and well known Forrest Grove Concours D'Elegence. Jeff felt that the proceeds from a Saturday night social to be held at Auto Cars would far exceed the gate revenues at the Sunday event. The university and car committee were astonished by the turnout for this first year event.
